Harvest Festival and the MRDF Harvest Appeal 2013

harvest applesYou are invited to the Harvest Thanksgiving Service on 22 September at 11.00am, where we will be following tradition and accepting gifts of non-perishable goods to be distributed to those in need in the local area.

Contributions of flowers or other suitable decorations for the service will be gratefully received on Friday 20 September 6.30-9.30pm or Saturday 21 September at 11.00am.

In addition, there will be an opportunity to donate to the Methodist Relief & Development Fund (MRDF) Harvest Appeal 2013.

By supporting MRDF’s Harvest appeal, we will help some of the most vulnerable people in poor communities around the world, to improve their land and increase their crop yields. With our support more farmers will be provided with tools and training that they need to ensure everyone in their family has enough to eat. Growing in new ways and using different tools will help families earn a living and enable children to go to school. Your gift will change lives this Harvest time.

  • £15 could train two farmers in Togo in new agricultural techniques
  • £22 provides 12 farmers in Burundi with vegetable seeds
  • £44 would provide a farmer in Malawi with two goats

Of every £1 MRDF spends, 86p goes towards helping the world’s most vulnerable people. The money will be spent on long-term development projects, emergency relief and combating the causes of poverty. Giving to the Harvest Appeal enables MRDF to allocate the money where need is greatest.
