All the world’s a stage…

The head of wild boar graced each of the tables...If your life is lacking the spectacle of the Beegees’ ‘Tragedy’ performed in Tudor costume with a Gangnam-style dance, then Wesley Hall Theatre Club’s ‘Elizabethan Eggstravaganza’ last weekend was the place for you.

With a delightfully bonkers juxtaposition of Shakespearian-themed sketches (the ‘Romeo and Juliet retire’ turn was a highlight) and hilarious Medieval air guitar (I don’t know how else to describe it), the cast got us warmed up for the post-interval performance of a Humpty-Dumpty themed ‘potted panto’. Warmed too by a delicious supper of pottage and meats, prepared in cauldrons by Macbeth’s wicked trio, a great evening was had by all.

Air guitar in a tudor style    Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...

Many thanks from the audiences at both performances to all those who took part both on stage and off – it was a good start to the festive season.
